FRI 8PM-9.30PM | SAT 2.30PM-4PM | CONCERT John Schumann and The Vagabond Crew

If you liked Redgum, you’ll love John Schumann & the Vagabond Crew.

Defiant, funny, passionate and always Australian, if you liked Redgum, you’ll love the Vagabond Crew.

Re-united with his old mate Hugh McDonald (also ex Redgum) after 20 years, this is the closest thing to a Redgum reunion fans will see.

The Vagabond Crew, named after a line in the Lawson poem, “Knocking Around”, had its genesis in the recording of the highly acclaimed “Lawson” album which Schumann released late in 2005.

The Vagabond Crew also features Kat Kraus from Adelaide, ex the highly-acclaimed folk band, Colcannon. Also from Adelaide are Sam Willoughby (bass and vocals) and Enrico Morena (drums). Alexander Stuart Black, from Melbourne, plays violin and mandolin and contributes to the vocal section. As well, the Vagabond Crew welcome John’s friend, keyboard legend Mal Logan, for these performance.

Packed venues and standing ovations demonstrate how, in a very short time, John Schumann & the Vagabond Crew have earned for themselves a stellar reputation on the festival circuit as an inspirational, intelligent and defiantly Australian concert act.

Vagabond Crew repertoire includes songs from the Vagabond Crew albums “Lawson” and “Behind the Lines” (ABC Music/Universal), songs from John’s solo albums and, of course, a swag of Redgum hits including “19” and “Diamantina Drover”.

The Vagabond Crew doesn’t wear big hats – nor do they sing in pseudo-American accents like so many of our performers.

John Schumann and the Vagabond Crew are, simply, fair dinkum.
