15 April 10 The RedFest Vocal Contest

The Redfest Vocal Contest hosted by the Redlands Sporting Club is celebrating its seventh year. As with every other year, the incredible talent in the Redlands will be showcased during the competition and be a highlight for all spectators.

Heats will be held in the main lounge of the Redlands Sporting Club and members, guests and bona fide visitors are all invited to come and cheer on the contestants. Heats are separated into junior (12 years & under), intermediate (13-16years) and senior (17+ years) categories with the competition beginning 2 August for Juniors, 9 & 16 August for Intermediates and 23 August for Seniors. Semi-finals will take place at the Cleveland Showgrounds on Saturday, 4 September then out of the twelve to fifteen singers contesting a spot in the semis, six finalists go through to the big finale which will be held on Sunday, 5 September 2010.

Doreen Thomas, Marketing Manager of the Redlands Sporting Club, has stated that the level of enthusiasm of both new and returning contestants is a testament to the Club’s commitment to support the emerging talent within the Redlands community. The total prize pool of over $1500 for the winners and runner-ups is seen as a reward rather than an incentive to participate as entry forms flood in each year.

Promoting the youth of the Redlands through this avenue is part of the Club’s on-going community commitment and we are proud to be involved again this year.
