28 July 10 37 days to go until RedFest rocks Redlands

Around thirty guests joined Mayor Melva Hobson and State Member for Redlands Peter Dowling at the intimately illuminated festival office on Wednesday evening for the exciting unveiling of the RedFest 2010 programme. Special surprise performances by Peter Cupples and the Blue Moon Theatre group, provided a taste of the amazing line up we can all expect. The RedFest entertainment coordinator Patrick Burke has clearly been working tirelessly with his subcommittee to design the most exciting RedFest programme ever.

Covering the city’s artistic spectrum, RedFest truly has something to entice everyone. From emerging artists to well known, we can be guaranteed performances that will inspire and amaze us over the RedFest weekend on 3rd 4th and 5th September at the Cleveland Showgrounds. In tough economic times, the average adult ticket price has been reduced to less than $15 to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to be part of this amazing event and Redland’s rich cultural community. Earlybird Pre-purchase tickets offer even more incredible savings for a weekend pass.

Program highlights include Daryl Braithwaite, Glenn Shorrock, John Schumann and The Vagabond Crew, Cotton Keays and Morris, The Twine, Mr Percival, and the popular Lantern Parade.

There is also a fantastic programme created specifically for kids of all ages to keep the youngest RedFest goers entertained over the weekend. Cleo the Clown, face painting, pot painting, lantern decorating, Pirate and Fairies Disco, Ehmer’s Puppets, and so much more including the kids’ favourite colourful fireworks display.

And if you feel like dancing – there is heaps to get the adrenalin pumping. Middle Eastern Dancers, Morris Dancer, Belly Dancers, Cotton Hoppers, and good old Bavarian Shoe Slapping will definitely give you the boogie edge at RedFest.

Among the extensive program there are authors, art, photography and sculptural displays, the world famous Strawberry Eating Competition., budgies & wood turners display, side show alley and the list goes on.

So get a spring in your step and smile… RedFest is going to illuminate the city with radiant cultural flair, sparkling high energy and electrifying good fun.

RedFest is a community event run by your community with assistance from our generous sponsors including Redland City Council, NAB, Redland Sporting Club, JJ Richards, Victoria Point Shopping Centre, Bayside Bulletin, 4BH, Propeller, RSVP and The Soundshed.
